Technology in EFL classes

For this week's post l have decided to take a look back at all the work we have been doing so far in these classes. Overall it has been a fun and challenging experience like no other l would say. We have worked alone and in groups, we helped each other and also learned so much from each other, which in my opinion is the best experience.  First of all, we were introduced to this amazing app, Blogger. It is a wonderful way to interact with your teachers and classmates at the same time but also a way to express opinions and get feedback from them. Also we learned how to be very responsible by this class cause we had a frequent homework, posting every week on the blog and also commenting on our friend's posts and express our opinions. Moreover, we learned how to create and share with our students in the future a bunch of exercises by using this tool called Hot Potato, l personally can not wait to use this one in the future. It is so helpful and super easy to use and it gives you ...

Apps and programs used to create a project

I was thinking the other day, since the finals are just around the corner, about my final project and also about different programs you can use when wanting to make your project as nice as possible.  That is the reason why l am going to write on this blog about my friends suggestions on apps and programs that can help us when working on projects and that l found very helpful.  First l am going to talk about my friend's research on this alternative app for Zunal.com which was running so slow and l couldn't open it on my browser. The program l am talking about is BookWidget , Meglina introduced our teacher with it and it works like a charm. With it you can make 40 different types of exercises which can be small exercises or to a full textbook. You can grade students work and hand it back to them with a click, it is absolutely perfect for teachers.  Klesta and Irda also made a very detailed blog post on how to use the program so after reading their post when l went to work ...

Technology tools

Whenever l hear someone say project l immediately think of technology and  presentations, in my opinion nowadays it comes all as a package. Technology is becoming a big part of our everyday life in our work, school, leisure time and as a result everything is evolving around it and so is teaching.  In this blog l am going to talk about the technology tools that are important for my students to use in the future and that will best will enhance their project work and presentations.  First of all l am going to talk about Trello  this is a free and super easy to use tool for students, especially when working in groups. Multiple students can be added to the same board and they can collaborate for an assigned project, team work is easy to get accomplished with this one. Also here you can create workflow charts very easily.  Next l want to tell you about Cold Turkey . Students might not love this one but it's particularly important for teachers. It is a tool that allows...

Cooperative learning

Image
In my third blog l am going to treat a topic that l think it's particularly important because it was one of my favorite methods to learn in school, cooperative learning.  Cooperative learning is basically separating your students into small groups and have them learn a new concept together, share information with each other and more importantly learn from one another. Cooperative learning is a structured method that gives each member of the group the ability to be involved, to work, speak and discuss for the topic or concept being treated in the class.  Some of the advantages of cooperative learning are:  Individual accountability - students will do their own and best work, then share it with the group, performance of groups will depend also on each person's personal performance.  Group processing - by reflecting on the learning process the effectiveness of contributions in the group improves.  Interpersonal and social skills  - students work together, trus...
